As preparation for completing the Signature Assignment, you willprepare a brief annotated bibliography related to your selected personalModel of MFT. An annotated bibliography is a very effective way toexplore the literature and have the effort produce a very usefuldocument for writing papers, doing research or creating a reference toolfor use in a MFT practice. Some foundational tools that can be used, if needed (these wereincluded in MFT5101 as well), to understand how to find informationinclude:Northcentral Library Information Literacy Tutorial Northcentral Library Search like an Expert Northcentral Library Finding a Research TopicPlease select at least five articles that address the Classic orPostmodern Model upon which you choose to focus. Places to searchinclude:The Gehart (2014) text (remember that you must find the original source of anything listed as sources in the text)the Northcentral Library databases (e.g., EBSCO Host, SAGE Knowledge, E-brary, etc. – remember those that you tried in MFT5101)Google Scholar or another Internet search engineor any other search method that you chooseThe articles should be from peer-reviewed journals and publishedwithin the past five years. Submit an annotated bibliography thatincludes these 5 entries. Choose articles that, taken together, willassist you in writing the paper you are outlining this week and that isdue next week. All articles must be scholarly, as defined by the Academic vs. Popular Articles Resource in the Northcentral Library.Note that each annotated entry must conciselysummarize key aspects of the article (study, literature review, secondary analysis, etc.) — e.g., participants, purpose, research designand methods, data analysis, key findings — and include athoughtful evaluation of the significance of the study’s findings andconclusions as they relate to the Classic or Postmodern Model aboutwhich you will be writing. In order to write quality entries, you must understand each study—what the researchers did, why they didit, and what they found and concluded. Be sure you paraphrase all content, following Northcentral Academic Integrity guidelines to insure that your work is your own. Example: Sample Annotated BibliographyYour annotated bibliography does not need to be lengthy, but it doesneed to be informative and useful. The annotated bibliography is aparagraph summarizing each piece of literature that you have chosenrelated to your topic of interest.Write a brief synopsis of the literature in your own words thathighlights the most relevant “take home” points. Essentially, eachannotation should address both 1) a brief synopsis of the content of thegiven resource, and 2) a statement of the relevance of the givenresource within your topic of study. In other words, your annotationsshould state, for each resource, what it says and why it is relevant toyour intended topic/research. The finished annotation should serve as adetailed overview of the literature that reduces the need that you willneed to go back and re-read the entire article or chapter.Start the annotation by giving the full reference for the article using APA formatting.Summarize the article in a paragraph and include:Purpose of the article / studySample and method of the studyKey resultsRelevance of the study to your researchIf the article is a literature review or theoretical piece, aim to highlight 3-4 most significant “take home” points.Do not use direct quotes – the annotation should be written in yourown words. You do not need to use citation (no parenthetical citation)in your paragraph because it is assumed that everything is from thenamed reference. If you are unsure what to include in an entry, send a singleannotated bibliography entry and the original article to your professorfor a preliminary review.Submit a paper comprised of at least 5 entries. There is no need toput each entry on a new page. The APA citation will act as a separatorof the entries.Your annotated bibliography should demonstrate thoughtfulconsideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the courseand provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APAstandards.
